Morphonix™ Every Body Has a Brain© .. an interactive musical game
Every Body Has a Brain .. an interactive, musical game will be an engaging video game and web site designed to increase interest in and knowledge about the brain among 4-6 year olds. It is the third in a series of award-winning neuroscience video games developed by Morphonix LLC and funded by grants from The National Institute of Mental Health's Small Business Innovation Research Program. In Every Body Has a Brain, the player is helping Phoebe Brainheart, a girl with enormous curiosity about the human brain.
In playing the game, children visit the four main parts of the brain -- the Cerebral Cortex, Cerebellum, Brain Stem, and Hippocampus. Characters with names representing each brain part -- Sir Rebral Cortex and Sara Bellum, for example -- guide children through the activities and games. By playing games in each part of the brain, they learn how that brain part works and why it's important to protect your brain.
The design of each game mirrors the content. For example, in the cerebellum the games involve coordination and balance. In the cerebral cortex, they elicit creativity and problem solving. Stories, songs, and movies provide more knowledge about each brain part.
Some of the concepts children are introduced to include:
1. Every body has a brain.
2. Animals have a brain.
3. Your Cerebellum helps you balance, dance, ride a bike.
4. The brain has different parts that do different things.
5. Your brain works together with the rest of your body.
6. You're always using your brain.
7. It's important to protect your brain.
8. Your brain is an organ inside your head.
9. Your brain is responsible for everything you think, feel, see, hear, do, and remember.
10. Your Brain Stem is the oldest part of the brain. The Brain Stem helps you breathe, swallow, blink, and more.
11. Your Cerebral Cortex is the largest part of your brain. It helps with thinking, decisions, and creativity.
12. Your Hippocampus helps you remember facts and events - like all the things you learn in school.
13. Your brain needs a balanced diet to work well.
Stay tuned for more news about this exciting game!
